Keynote Speaker - Betsy Mevissen

This year, we have the privilege of a local speaker from Minnesota Elder Justice Center, Betsy Mevissen.  Betsy will be sharing tips and tools to identifying financial exploitation and scams.

Betsy Mevissen is the Victim Services Manager at Minnesota Elder Justice Center. She joined MEJC in March 2020 and is passionate about supporting individuals and the community to address and heal elder abuse concerns. She has provided holistic and client-centered domestic abuse advocacy for over 12 years, and she holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Bethel University. Her self care includes gardening, cross country skiing, and listening to the music her family makes.

Financial exploitation and financial fraud/scams can happen in many ways and to anyone. Together we will touch base on a few of the ways people may be financially victimized; the vulnerabilities, warning signs, and costs of financial exploitation; and protective factors people can consider.
